14

October 16, 2013
How far along? 14 weeks down, 26 to go!
Maternity clothes? Some bottoms – tops still fit
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Really good
Best moment this week: I shared my week 13 picture on Facebook and everyone loved the bump which was so fun. We are also looking into getting me a mama car/SUV since my two-door car isn’t very baby friendly.
Miss anything? Not having heartburn and feeling like a zombie after 7:00PM
Movement: Not yet but maybe in the next few weeks!
Food cravings: Cereal and turkey sandwiches
Anything making you queasy or sick:  I think I can finally say no!! :)
Gender: We find out November 18th but won’t share until Thanksgiving
Labor signs: No
Symptoms: Heartburn, feeling extremely full after I eat, little twinges in my belly and sides which I think means the belly is stretching out. I also read that my organs are shifting around as well to accomodate baby – weird!
Belly button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or moody most of the time: Very happy – it’s been a great week!
Looking forward to: We can’t wait to find out what this baby is; I am literally counting down the days. I’m also really excited for my next appointment October 30th when we can hear the heart beat again.

Photo shoot outtakes...
 This
 little
 one
well, she is right in the middle of these weekly photo shoots. As you can see her dad had to stop to give kisses, and then Gertie wanted in the picture with her baby and mama too.
Giddy not so much... She either does this or stares at us in the doorway, though she's still a happy pup. However, I think she knows what's coming her way and that she won't be the baby anymore, lol.

Goodbye 1st Trimester!

12 WEEKS

October 2, 2013
How far along? 12 weeks down, 28 to go!
Maternity clothes? Yes with jeans, not yet with tops (except this red one for weekly pictures). If I don’t wear my maternity jeans, I just wear skirts with stretchy waist bands. Also, I used a rubber band with the above black non-maternity pants. :)
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: pretty good, though I wake up 1-2 times to go to the restroom
Best moment this week: Today we heard baby's heartbeat, and it was the absolute best sound!
Miss anything? Not having to worry about what I can eat and food aversions
Movement: no
Food cravings: Fruit, cheese, and turkey sandwiches. AND I found out at the doctor’s today that I can have them (yes!) as long as I know they have been in the fridge and have absolutely not been sitting out.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Certain foods at certain times still make me queasy. It still really just depends.
Gender: We find out November 18th! The heart beat was on the faster side today which could mean a girl…
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: I have been more hungry lately but can still only eat small meals.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Mostly happy during the day, but I can get cranky when I start to get tired. I am also not as patient as I used to be, so my students and sometimes hubby might say more moody. ;)
Looking forward to: Buying a heartbeat monitor so I can hear the heartbeat. I’m also feeling really ready to start putting the nursery together. I'm excited to go shopping!

13 WEEKS

October 9, 2013
How far along? 13 weeks down, 27 to go!
Maternity clothes? Yes with jeans, not yet with tops. I also wear skirts with stretchy waists or use a rubber band with my non-maternity pants.
Stretch marks? no
Sleep: Still pretty good
Best moment this week: Several good days in a row of feeling well and thinking about taking the little one to a pumpkin patch next year – can’t wait!
Miss anything? Not being so nonchalant about puking. It’s kind of become semi-normal to me unfortunately…though it’s been much better this week, whew!
Movement: no
Food cravings: I had my first turkey sandwich this week (it was divine) and know I will continue to enjoy and crave these.
Anything making you queasy or sick:  Certain foods at certain times still make me queasy. It still really just depends. Also, most mornings – ha!
Gender: We find out November 18th
Labor signs: No.
Symptoms: Heartburn! I have had some at night right before bed, but several times this week it flared up late afternoon and continued on and off all evening.
Belly button in or out? In.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time: Mostly happy. :)
Looking forward to: I’m looking forward to putting the nursery together and finding out if it’s a boy or girl, especially after having a dream it was a boy. I’ve had several dreams baby was a girl, but this was my first one about a boy!

Our Story

April 16, 2014 will mark 13 years of being (mostly) together, and it will mark the start of a new journey. You see, back when I was 16 I met my husband. It's both crazy and yet normal to me. We met through baseball (I was a manager, he was a player) and figured out we were in the same history class. And it was history from there. BV football games, dances, cruising around in his Jeep Wrangler, graduation... We were apart for a little over a year when we went off to our rival colleges, but we stayed in touch and never really got over each other. After that, we put several miles on our cars nearly every weekend driving back and forth on I-70 and wouldn't have had it any other way. On December 20, 2006, he asked me to be his wife. On December 28, 2007 we promised to love to each other through the good and bad for the rest of our lives. And, wow, have these past five and a half years been something. Becoming parents to our furry children - the Beagle babes, first jobs, first house, many trips, time with friends and family. So many adventures. On August 1 (Mat's 29th birthday) we found out we were going to begin a new adventure. One that we had hoped and prayed for and no matter how prepared for, were shocked to find out... We were pregnant. Two little lines. We were going to be parents. Mommy and Daddy. Our world was turned upside down in the very best way.
Here's a letter I wrote to baby Owens a couple days after it was officially confirmed, we were indeed pregnant:

Dear Baby Owens,
Today we found out officially that you are on the way! We are pregnant!! We are going to be a mommy and a daddy, and the girls will be big furry sisters!!! On daddy’s birthday, August 1, we took a test and saw a faint second line. Could it be? After calling the doctor, they told us it was pretty early to be testing and to test again on the 6th – then call them back. Mommy felt pretty bad and that she had let daddy down (and got herself way too excited) because what if…? Needless to say, we were shocked and overjoyed after getting a smiley face Tuesday morning. Mommy was sitting up in bed with a big smile on her face when daddy came out of the shower and showed him the test. We couldn't believe it!! Mommy went straight off to the doctor’s to "officially" confirm you were on your way.
We are shocked, excited, feeling so blessed, anxious, nervous, and we can’t wait to meet you. You are due on April 16 which is a very special day to us. That will be mommy and daddy’s 13th dating anniversary which is just the icing on the cake. Mommy is a little stressed (her focus is definitely not on school starting soon like it’s been for several weeks now) as she goes back to school in two days and has to keep this big secret. We want to share the news with the whole wide world that you are on your way! We feel so blessed that God is giving us you. You are an answer to our prayers.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy

10 Year Frieniversary

Two weeks ago, three of my best friends and I took a girls' trip to Bonita Springs, Florida. We called it our 10 year frieniversary because this August will mark when we became friends and sisters at K-State. We had such a good time catching up and talking about the glory days of college before we had careers, husbands, babies (both furry and human), houses, and had to be "responsible" adults. It was so nice to relax, enjoy each others' company, and have not a care in the world for a few days.

After two of us were stranded in Atlanta due to a Southern storm, we were greeted with this when we finally landed in Florida the next morning.
Yes, Tropical Storm Andrea was passing through. Despite the weather, we had an amazing trip and even managed to soak up some sun!
 Cheers to our reunion!

Playing in the Snow

Well, snowmageddon 2.0 hit late last night/early this morning. I am now on my third snow day in a week, and my hubby is on his second (which I love). With zero snow days the past two years, I am soaking it in and enjoying every second. This time around the snow is so different, and it literally looks like a winter wonderland movie…

The Beags are so enjoying the fact that their mom and dad are home with them, and we even took a little adventure outside while the hubby shoveled!

Snow day videos...

Now the girls and I are all cuddled up and going to watch a movie while the hubby does a little work and then hopefully joins us in a bit. Happy snow day everyone!

*Snow Day*

Last night, after much anticipation of an approaching giant snow storm, I wasn't too surprised to get a text that today would be a *snow day*. This morning we woke up to the surprise that the hubby had a snow day too, and we all are thoroughly enjoying the day relaxing, laughing at the pups trying to go out (hubby had to shovel a path for them), and lounging in our pjs.

I am so not going out there!

Clearing a path for the beags

Yummm

There's a good chance tomorrow will be another snow day as more snow (yes more!) is supposed to roll in later this afternoon and evening. This teacher has her fingers crossed for another four-day weekend!

Carpet update:

The new carpet is like a complete house makeover. It feels so brand new to us and was the perfect way to update our little made in the 80's home. I love the way it contrasts with the dark wood (minus the molding which we will someday change to white) and beams. Overall, we are very happy!

I had to throw this one in too with the naughty critters up on the couch pillows

Happy Thursday! And if you are in the midst of this crazy snow storm, stay in, make yourself some hot chocolate, a yummy snack, and watch your favorite movie.:)
