World's Scarediest Dogs

Wednesday we went on a little adventure to the vet. We, meaning Giddy, Gertie, and myself. To put it bluntly, my dogs are not brave. They go from being excited explorers, sniffing around at all the scents outside the building to intense panting, whining, and desperately wanting to be in my lap. Both of them. All 52 pounds combined. It doesn't really work out that well for me.

They had a rough day though. Three shots. Blood taken. And they got microchiped, something I'd been wanting to do for a long time, so I caved and spent the $100. I felt bad they were so scared. Thankfully the vet took them in the back to do all of the above so the vet could have a few extra hands to help and comfort the scardy dogs. This was perfectly fine by me.

I am not very brave when it comes to my furry babies being upset. I've already told my mom when I have real babies I am going to be a mess.

Here are some snap shots of the "adventure":
Help! Save me!
I'm staying right here in my mama's lap
Attempting to comfort each other :)

Then they slept the entire way home.

All three of us are glad we only have to take this adventure once a year.

Happy (very late) Father's Day!

This is very late. I blame it on master's classes and jail. And no I did not go to jail..well not really. I'm teaching summer school there. It's fun and interesting and makes me appreciate "life on the outs" much, much more.

Anyway, to the point. Last Sunday was Father's Day, and I want to take some time to recognize the fathers in my life.

My dad is an amazing father to my sister and I. He has always been one to tell us stories and taught us to be open with one another. He is loving, caring, and very protective of his girls. He is so supportive and always there whenever you need to talk. He is a GREAT dad.

Lots of love to all the amazing father figures in my life. And to my hubby who is an excellent father to our furry babies if I do say so myself! :) Love you all!

Summertime

Summer is...

luscious, ripened, juicy, red strawberries and other fruits to snack on.

Summer is...

a short drive to 7 Eleven to enjoy a freezing and refreshing SLURPEE - your choice of concoction. Mine is Coke and Cherry.

Summer is...

delicious!

Summer is...

the reddish glow of my girl's head when the sun hits it just right.

And...

a soft, pink tongue, ever-so-gently hanging out as my other girl seeks some shade.

I can't help but see two smiles as well.

Summer is marvelous, relaxing, slow-paced, and when life reminds you to slow down and enjoy the little things.

100 Things About Me - Part Four (Finally!)

76. I have always had blond hair – except when I was a baby through age three; I was completely bald, with just a little reddish-blond fuzz.

77. Though I’ve always heard it, I am learning that it’s true you get wiser with age.

78. I am over halfway through with my summer master’s classes. I have never worked so hard in school in my entire life.

79. After my master’s I want to take a Spanish class or a photography class – or both.

80. I want a new and fabulous camera that takes amazing pictures. Better start saving my pennies now.

81. I never thought I would say this, but I would consider being a college professor someday. I think it would be really fun to teach a writing or introductory English class.

82. Estes Park, CO is another one of my favorite places in the world. It is always beautiful no matter what season you go. I just love the views, the river walk, the elk spotting, and just being up in the mountains.

83. I get car sick on long trips. I also can’t read in the car – ever.

84. I am not technology savvy. That’s why I married a web developer. ;)

85. I am afraid of the dark.

86. I hate scary movies and have never been able to watch them. I think I am weird because while many think they are so entertaining, I find them upsetting and disturbing. I still freak myself out at night after watching Scream in 7th grade. Like I said in Part Two, I’m not very brave.

87. I am an animal lover. I bet you are shocked at that one. ; )

88. When I was in middle school I wanted to be an E.R. doctor. I think it had something to do with my obsession with the show E.R.

89. When I was in 8th grade I got to go be a helper in a kindergarten classroom for as an elective, and that is when I decided I wanted to be a teacher. Though one of my favorite childhood activities was playing school; I was the oldest, so I had to be the teacher. Sorry M.

90. I have never broken a bone….

91. …but I did dislocate my hip in 10th grade in drill team doing a funky sliding into a split at an angle move -don't know the technical term.

92. I have to eat every few hours. Otherwise I get really shaky, nauseous, and grumpy. My family knows that when I say I have to eat now, I really do have to eat now!

93. I sometimes live for Saturday mornings when I get to sleep in (like right now). I have noticed though, that I can’t sleep past 10:00 like I used to be able to do.

94. I can’t wait to be a mom someday. A real mom. To real babies – not furry ones. But I do love me some furry babies.

95. I feel so blessed that it has just been the hubby and I (well, and the furry children) for these first few years of our married life. We are so enjoying our time before kiddos.

96. I am (sort of) learning Italian right now – very basic words. My favorite phrase? Vorrei qualche gelato! (I would like some gelato!)
Want to learn too? Click here!

97. Every summer I go and tutor in urban school summer programs (areas where children face and struggle with poverty) where they are focusing on reviewing skills and content from the previous year and mainly focusing on reading skills. It is something I am good at and passionate about because it has to do with teaching and reading. It puts me in the right frame of mind to serve, and it eases me back into school too; I usually do this the end of July right before I go back to prep for the school year. It also reminds me why I don’t teach elementary school.:) But it is still so much fun to just go sit and read with the little ones.

98. Growing up I always wanted to have a red pickup truck. I’m not entirely sure why, though my Papa drove a truck, and I loved to ride along with him.
My Papa in Estes Park, CO :)

99. I am a reality TV lover - The Bachelorette, Housewives of OC, anything on HGTV...

100! I want to become a better blogger, and I am inspired by all the amazing and creative ones out there!!

Busy, Busy June

Life is busy. The hubby and I drove to Chicago for Memorial Day Weekend to visit family and watch my brother-in-law graduate from high school. A post will be coming your way soon about this. (Hopefully.) This week is summer conference in my district, and I am also in the midst of two busy and condensed online classes. Next week is going to be even more busy. Next week I will continue taking the two online classes, as well as a face-to-face class (condensed into four all day class sessions, whew). Did I mention summer school starts next week too? Yeah, now you believe me when I say I'm busyBut, all-in-all, it's a good busy because it means that (assuming all goes well the rest of this month and next semester) I will receive my master's degree in December, yippee!

Other than reading away, writing, researching, listening to speakers, and completing projects, I did manage to squeeze in some time to Skype with my sister in Rome.

There she is! Best part of my day. She is on a four day holiday now. (I sound so European.) Today she attended a parade, tomorrow she is going shopping and visiting the Vatican, and Saturday she is taking a day trip to the beach. Life is good for this girl, and I couldn't be happier...well, unless I was right there with her. ;)

And now I am off to bed. Please excuse my lack of blogging, oh for the next couple of weeks because it is and will continue to be a busy, busy June.
